BALTIMORE ▬ Ib’s Blog founder, Ibrahim Dabo, will on Mar. 5, 2010 speak to students at Harford Day School in located in Bel Air, Maryland.

The institution is a K-Prep to 8th grade independent school, and Ibrahim will be speaking on the celebration of their International Day.

Ibrahim left his native country, Sierra Leone, in 1997 after rebels invaded the capital city, Freetown, and moved to The Gambia where he spent seven years as a refugee. He relocated to the U.S. in 2004, and his experiences greatly inspire him to make the world a better place.

“I am honored to have been invited to speak to students at Harford Day School on International Day,” said Dabo. “Equipping our younger generation with the right resources today promises us all a brighter future tomorrow, and if I can be an inspiration at any time, that pleases me a lot. I look forward to meeting with and talking to the students.”

LaFreda Smith, diversity coordinator and math teacher at Harford Day School, said: “As a way to learn about and celebrate cultures of the world, we have instituted an International Day.  On this day, we invite students, parents, teachers, and community members to come and share their heritage with us.

“We are privileged to have Ibrahim come to our school to talk to our middle school students about his life in Sierra Leone and in the U.S. We believe that learning about different cultures enriches us in many ways and helps us become better world citizens.”

Patrick Smithwick, chair of the English department at Harford Day School, taught Ibrahim in an advanced writing honors class at the University of Baltimore.

“Ibrahim is one of the most inspiring students I have ever taught. What he has accomplished since coming to the States from Sierra Leone is remarkable. His drive, imagination, and ability to think outside the box serve as an example to us all that the American Dream is still alive and able to be fulfilled,” notes Smithwick.

“Ibrahim does not restrict himself to one subject, one narrowly focused career.  He tackles it all: computer technology, journalism dealing with sports – especially soccer – or with international events such as the disaster in Haiti; or painstaking work focused on improving minority business relations.  He will be a true inspiration to our middle school students here at Harford Day School.”

Ibrahim Dabo is founder of Ib's Blog. Since the founding of Ib's Blog in the fall of 2009, it has gained a lot of attention and credibility with many exclusive interviews, reports and some of the breaking news around the world; and exclusive coverage of major events, conferences and seminars.

Dear Ib’s Blog Readers,

One of the most touching stories so far this year is the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti. Our prayers go to the survivors and all those involved in the rescue and humanitarian efforts. The Haiti disaster is the lead story in this second edition of Ib’s Blog newsletter. I wrote on some of the heartbreaking effects, remarkable stories, and hope for the future.

On January 7, I covered SmartCEO’s Future 50 Awards Gala in Baltimore and did exclusive interviews with some of the honorees. The Future 50 program recognizes 50 fastest growing companies in the Greater Baltimore region based on revenue and employee growth over the past three years. Five companies were honored as Emerging Growth Winners. The 55 companies in total employ more than 5,500 individuals and generate more than $2.5 billion in revenue.

You will also find exclusive interviews with some of the nation’s finest business leaders who are defying the odds in tough economic times and thriving in a competitive environment.

Quinn Salamandra, Co-CEO of Corporate Brokers, LLC., told Ib’s Blog that the economy is better than it was six months ago and companies are beginning to hire again; Natalie Cofield, president of NMC Consulting, INC., spoke exclusively to Ib’s Blog about her organization’s new initiatives on economic development, entrepreneurship, and community-related programming.

February’s newsletter promises more exclusive interviews, reports, and a coverage of conferences, seminars and other events. 2010 is a year of much success, and the journey has only begun.

Sincerely,

Ibrahim Dabo

“It’s a book of Inspirational Poetry designed to help people put their lives into ACTion! This is not your normal poetry as it combines both the intellectual stimulation side of poetry and the results driven side of improving one’s life. After the end of each poem is a section entitled ‘Poetry in ACTion’ that challenges the reader to put what they read into ACTion in their own life,” Jones-Fosu said.
